Sulawesi Trip

Sulawesi trip
Getting from South to North Sulawesi?

Hi. We’re travelling from Makassar in the south, to Manado in the north. We’ve booked our flights from Bali already, so can’t cancel.

What’s the best way to make that trip? Are there boats that do it? Or reasonable buses? (If possible I don’t want to take agonisingly slow local buses all the way there.) We’re going mid-November.

Thanks

Boats don’t do it. Buses take 3 days.

You can fly in 1½ hours on one of Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Merpati, Sriwijaya Air.

As explained here:

http://www.indonesiamatters.com/4938/booking-indonesian-flights-online/

you need an Indonesian credit card or bank account to book Indonesian domestic flights from airline websites. If you are visiting Indonesia, you will need to either book them after you arrive or use an online booking service like Mau Ke Mana: http://flights.indonesiamatters.com/

Entering Tana Toraja: Sulawesi, Indonesia
